Heater Assemblies- Low Flow I have listed some part #'s and part names so you can replace the low flow spa heaters. A lot of these low flow spa heaters have been discontinued due to the manufacturer going out. The most economical solution is to use a generic flow thru spa heater and some adapters. The flow thru type spa heater is very common so the low cost of a replacement heater element is low. This is because you reuse the stainless steel housing instead of buying a new one every time. The two sku's listed below make great replacements for the low flow heaters. These heaters come with the threaded tail piece that connects to the spa heater. What you need then is an adapter or bushing that goes from 2 in down to 1 in or 3/4 in ID barb. A cheap way to do this is to use a piece of schedule 40 PVC pipe in the size smaller than the tubing ID. It depends on what size ID the tubing is on your spa as to what adapters you will need. Most are either 1 in ID or 3/4 in ID. A plumbing source will probably have the fittings you need. 3/4in PVC sch 40 pipe allows 1 in tubing to slip over it and use a clamp. Like wise 1/2 in PVC sch 40 pipe allows 3/4 in tubing to go over it. Don't forget the clamps, tubing and glue. When running extra tubing to adapt to the flow thru spa heater avoid 90 degree elbow turns. Its better to make a long sweeping turn with extra tubing than tight bends. Also good to slightly incline the output side of the heater to help prevent air bubbles being trapped. You will have to reuse your pressure switch or buy a new one. 1/8 in npt die if you need to clean up the threads on a plastic pressure switch. Always use wire and terminals that are of correct size. Connect a ground wire to one of the heater housing ground studs. Cover any exposed wire connections with tape. As always, contact us with any questions.
